VILNIUS LEGENDS

Vilnius Legends is a series of short animated films that bring to life some of the most famous stories from the mythology of Lithuania’s capital. These videos retell tales that have shaped the imagination of the city for centuries - from the dream of the Iron Wolf that foretold the birth of Vilnius, to the mysterious story of Lizdeika and the dark legend of the Basilisk hidden beneath the city walls. The films are part of the artistic initiative “1001 legenda”, a unique project where twelve of the most important Vilnius legends are brought together in a single artwork. Each story reveals a different layer of the city’s mythology and history. Through animation, storytelling, and visual art, the project invites audiences to rediscover Lithuanian folklore and experience these historic stories in a contemporary way. All three films are available on YouTube. More about the project and all twelve legends: https://1001legenda.lt
